Underway with the 34th International Tournament “Città della Pace”

We have finally come to the beginning of this 34th edition of the International Tournament “Città della Pace”.

The preparation of the 14 competition sites scattered throughout the territory is underway; the staff and hundreds of high school students part of the junior team are at work in order to prepare the necessary for the close competitions.

The first matches will start tomorrow, not only between local teams but also international ones including Albania, France, Spain, Poland, Austria and Germany.

This morning, in fact, the first teams arrived in Rovereto where they will spend these three days.

Finally we are ready to welcome again foreign athletes, allowing them to get back into the game and with the aim of reviving this event that has been taking place for several years now, giving back life to Vallagarina.

Tonight the “Welcome show” will take place at the Melotti Auditorium, where the start of this edition will be celebrated by hosting the managers of the participating teams and some authorities.

To kick off the competitions, participants will be greeted with various performances.

Tomorrow all the athletes, the managers, the staff and the junior team will meet at the “Campana dei Caduti” where they will be welcomed at the opening ceremony that will officially start all the matches that will take place in the following hours.

At this time, all the participating teams will be presented and will be seated in the stands surrounding the bell. Finally, a hundred tolls of the bell in an attempt to send a signal of peace to the world.

Tomorrow 1800 young athletes will be employed in the various competition sites in the area ready to challenge each other in the various disciplines. At the end of the day at around 7 pm it will be possible to attend the awards ceremony for three of the sports: water polo, mini-basket and palla-tamburello that will take place at the “Palazzetto dello Sport”. 

This will be a magical moment, especially for children who for the first time will have the opportunity to raise a trophy to the sky and celebrate the victory of their team in a friendly atmosphere.
