The International Tournament “Città della Pace” in Rovereto was a huge success. More than 2000 athletes from 9 countries all over the world, more than 200 young volunteers and 4 sports proposed in this edition: football (categories U8, U11, U13, U15, U17, Women Open Age and Women Under 15), basketball ( U10), water polo (U12) and tamburello (U15), on 15 fields in Vallagarina. In addition, a triangular demonstration of the “Special” category of the football tournament was held in Lizzana, reserved for soccer players with intellectual-relational disabilities and psychiatric pathologies. 9 nations were hosted (Italy, Austria, Albania, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Kuwait, Japan and India), with great enthusiasm from those who arrive further afield: Japan and Kuwait have already said they can’t wait to return in 2024, as well as India which was participating in the Tournament for the first time and gave its young athletes an unforgettable experience, their very first European experience.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the new Sports Village, in the urban courtyard of via Roma in Rovereto, welcomed the teams with sports games, food-trucks, music and events. The Village was a great success with the public: during the three days many people from Rovereto visited it, as well as several hundred athletes participating in the tournament who enjoyed a few moments of leisure between one game and another. Saturday, after the Opening Ceremony at the Bell of the Fallen, there was the return after the pandemic of the parade through the streets of the city with arrival in a crowded MART square.

Finally, on Sunday, the finals at the Quercia Stadium, with thousands of people encouraging the athletes on the field during the last matches of the Tournament and applauding them during the exciting award ceremony. For many very young athletes it was the first opportunity to raise a trophy in front of such a large and warm audience. And after the fireworks show, so much emotion: there were tears among the more than 200 volunteers who worked on this tournament, starting from the staff, up to the 150 volunteers of the Junior Team, the heart of the event.
